At the beginning of September, people across Australia came together to celebrate the life-changing power of learning as part of Adult Learners Week 2026. This year’s theme, ‘Follow Your Compass: Learning for Life’, recognised that learning can help people find direction, build confidence, and create new opportunities at every stage of life.

That was the question at the heart of the National Skills Week 2026 launch in Canberra, where MTC FutureReady joined education, industry and government leaders as a Platinum Partner.
Meet Samineh, Skills for Education and Employment Centre Manager at MTC FutureReady Parramatta. Her journey in adult education began in Iran in 2008, where she worked as a TESOL teacher. Those early years provided valuable hands-on experience for her and sparked a passion for helping adults build their skills, achieve their goals, and create brighter futures.
MTC FutureReady welcomed the Hon Amanda Rishworth MP, Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, and Ms Ash Ambihaipahar MP, Member for Barton, to its Hurstville centre on Tuesday 4 August, showcasing the life-changing impact of employment, training and support services in the local community.

When Maibul joined MTC FutureReady’s Miller site, she was already working as a Support Worker. While committed to her role, she was finding it difficult to balance work, family responsibilities and personal challenges. These pressures affected her confidence, wellbeing and work-life balance, putting her employment at risk.
