Refer to Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW)

Skilling Queenslanders for Work is designed to give Queenslanders the skills and confidence they need to find work. When you refer participants to MTC FutureReady, they’ll gain practical skills, improve digital literacy, and benefit from a holistic approach.

What is the Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) program?

MTC FutureReady’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work programs help participants build the skills they need to get ready for work. Both programs under SQW are offered free of charge.

When you refer someone, we make sure they’re supported every step of the way. If participants need help to attend, MTC FutureReady can provide transport assistance, interview clothing, phone credit, and lunch each day.

These Skilling Queenslanders for Work programs are proudly funded by the Queensland Government.

Skills Training for Employment Pathways (STEP)

MTC’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work STEP program runs for 12 weeks, with participants attending classes two days a week. They’ll learn essential digital, literacy, and numeracy skills for everyday life and joining the workforce.

Our trainers will help participants improve their digital literacy by teaching them how to use computers, tablets, and mobile phones, and showing how these devices can make life easier.

Every participant can also choose to complete a Construction White Card or a First Aid certificate at no cost as part of the course.

When you refer someone to STEP, you can be confident they’ll receive:

  • Experienced trainers who support them all the way.
  • A boost in confidence and job readiness.
  • Holistic activities for mental and physical well-being, including mindfulness, meditation, and yoga.

Participants will learn how to:

Use digital devices – phones, computers, tablets.

Navigate basic software and communication tools, including email, online meetings, and managing life online.

Improve language, literacy, and numeracy skills with practical advice for real-life situations.

Identify their skills and map out a future path to success.
