Stories – Maibul
When balancing work and family became overwhelming, Maibul turned to MTC FutureReady for the personalised support she needed to stay on track.
When Maibul joined MTC FutureReady’s Miller site, she was already working as a Support Worker. While committed to her role, she was finding it difficult to balance work, family responsibilities and personal challenges. These pressures affected her confidence, wellbeing and work-life balance, putting her employment at risk.
Employment Practitioner Rosie worked closely with Maibul to understand her circumstances and develop a personalised support plan. Through regular check-ins, mentoring, coaching and ongoing encouragement, Rosie helped her build confidence, strengthen her resilience and develop practical strategies to manage both work and family commitments.
A key part of the support was MTC FutureReady’s collaboration with Maibul’s employer. By advocating for Maibul and providing a better understanding of her circumstances to her employer, suitable adjustments were made to her roster and working arrangements. These changes created a more supportive workplace and helped her maintain a healthy work-life balance.
The team at the Miller site also focused on building Maibul’s confidence to speak up for herself at work. With Rosie’s guidance, she developed stronger communication skills and learned how to raise concerns, discuss her needs and contribute ideas for improvement. This gave her the confidence to take a more active role in her workplace while strengthening her relationship with her employer.
Through one-on-one support, strong employer engagement and ongoing mentoring, Maibul was able to remain in employment and build a strong foundation for long-term success.
Today, Maibul has maintained more than six months of continuous employment as a Support Worker. She communicates confidently with her employer, advocates for her needs and continues to make a valuable contribution at work.
