MTC was established in 1989 in Marrickville by a team of just three. Now we're a group of over 500 dedicated people working at almost 80 locations across NSW, ACT, Victoria and Queensland and every year we support approximately 20,000 people with new skills, confidence and opportunities.

Adult Learners Week 2026

At the beginning of September, people across Australia came together to celebrate the life-changing power of learning as part of Adult Learners Week 2026. This year’s theme, ‘Follow Your Compass: Learning for Life’, recognised that learning can help people find direction, build confidence, and create new opportunities at every stage of life. 

MTC FutureReady was proud to host the NSW launch event at our Cabramatta site, bringing together learners, educators, community organisations, and advocates to celebrate the many ways learning can shape lives.

Among this year’s Adult Learners Week Ambassadors are two inspiring MTC FutureReady participants whose journeys reflect the power of lifelong learning. 

Menmuna

At 59, Memnuna is proving it’s never too late to pursue your goals. Originally from Bosnia, she arrived in Australia in the 1980s and focused on raising her family before studying accounting and helping run her family’s business for more than 20 years. After the business closed, she decided to continue building her skills by joining the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program at MTC FutureReady in Liverpool. Today, she is preparing to return to the workforce as an accountant or bookkeeper, drawing on both her experience and her commitment to learning.

Arron

Arron, a proud Kamilaroi man, has taken a different path, but one guided by the same determination to create a better future. Through MTC FutureReady’s SEE Program and GADI Services, Arron strengthened his confidence, developed new skills, and accessed culturally safe mentoring and support. He now works at Vivid Indigenous Employment Services and continues to build on his professional and personal goals. His story shows how the right support, combined with a willingness to learn, can create lasting opportunities and a stronger sense of belonging.

While their experiences are different, both Memnuna and Arron demonstrate what’s possible when people keep investing in themselves. Learning isn’t confined to a certain stage of life, Menuna and Arron prove “it’s never too late to learn.”
