Why is MTC launching a new brand?
As an organisation, we have come a long way since Marrickville Community Training Centre began serving its local community in 1989. Our services extend beyond government education programs to cover all the employment, mentoring and training services needed to set people on the path to meaningful work. We’ve expanded geographically too, crossing the border into Queensland in 2022 and opening in the ACT and regional NSW in 2024.
New leadership, a new business strategy, purpose and values, helped us look further, and recognise our more progressive, innovative identity. MTC FutureReady better reflects who we are today and where we’re headed tomorrow. It captures our forward-thinking approach and our unbeatable support for the communities we serve.
We want to reassure you though that while our name and look have evolved, our commitment remains the same. MTC FutureReady is home to the same dedicated people, the same purpose-driven mission, and the same passion for helping people take practical steps toward the future they want through our employment, mentoring and training programs.
Have you bought out by another company or changed ownership?
No, we are still the same independent, not-for-profit organisation.
How will MTC hang on to its heritage and history through a name change?
The decision to review MTC’s brand was not taken lightly. One of the main factors we considered was the need to protect MTC’s legacy, history, reputation and brand equity. Speaking with our clients, partners, referrers and Government stakeholders throughout the project is one way we’ve worked to safeguard our heritage and history. And, following launch, consultation will continue with the careful execution of a launch and implementation plan.
And, obviously, the structure of our new name speaks the loudest support for who we have always been by holding on to the M T C!
Who decided on MTC’s new name?
The MTC Board and CEO made the final decision on MTC’s new brand, as recommended by the executive leadership. To get to that point, the General Manager, Marketing and Communications and the Marketing and Communications team spent many hours testing the name and brand look and feel with clients, employers, referrers, partners and employees, studying the employee survey results, conducting social media and legal searches and other analysis.
What goes into a brand? Is it just some new colours and a different logo?
A brand is so much more than just a collection of colours and pictures. MTC FutureReady is a reflection of our people, our energy and our culture.
A brand’s visual identity is made up of many things such as the logo, colour palette, typography, photography, and graphic devices such as illustrations and icons. Alongside the visual elements, an organisation’s brand is represented by the name, tagline, brand positioning, brand personality and tone of voice.
How quickly will the rollout of MTC’s new brand take place at sites and online?
Much of the work behind the scenes has been completed. MTC’s website is wearing our new colours, as are our social media accounts. You will see the new MTC brand appearing at our sites in coming weeks but please bear with us while we make this very public change of clothes in a smart and measured way.
What's happening to your email addresses? How do I find out your new one?
The MTC team will be changing email addresses to our new domain – mtcfutureready.org.au – but our old email addresses will stay active for a long time yet. Our old addresses will redirect to our new ones, so feel free to get in touch via our old @mtcaustralia.com.au and we’ll still receive it. When we email you back, you will see our new email address.
