Meet MTC – Matt
As advocates for inclusive hiring practices, at MTC FutureReady we pride ourselves on practising what we preach. Our workforce consists of more than 500 people from diverse backgrounds. Many of them have experienced the same challenges our clients might face.
By supporting over 22,000 people in overcoming barriers to meaningful work, we strive to provide the best support to our clients and employers. We are able to do so because of our people.
Matt began his career in education administration in September 2024 as a SEE Administration Support Officer at MTC FutureReady in Dapto, NSW. In this role, he provides vital operational and administrative support to the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program.
Can you tell us about your MTC journey?
I have been with MTC for over a year now and what attracted me to the job firstly was the positive feedback I had received from others that had worked here and are still working for MTC. It feels like a great place for growth and progress.
What did you do before MTC?
Before joining MTC, I worked as a Support Worker at Warrah Disability Services where I assisted individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities in their daily activities and vocational development. It was an amazing place to work and I would encourage anyone to check out their organic farm shop and farm tours.
Before that I worked in various roles in the healthcare industry in the UK, which is where I am from originally!
What do you enjoy most about your day-to-day?
Helping others. Be it participants who attend site with general enquiries, or the staff that I work with both on site and within MTC. I like that the staff within MTC are helpful with answering any questions I may have or with offering support, guidance and advice when I have asked for it in the past. My direct manager has been extremely helpful in mentoring me in my role.
What’s something interesting about your role that most people wouldn’t know?
Something I find interesting about my role is having to read and interpret data and requests within it. Sometimes I like to pretend I’m a detective solving a mystery.
How do you recharge after a stressful day or week?
Doing activities I enjoy is important to me. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, going on walks, and taking in nature and the sights. Fortunately, living in Australia means there are plenty of beautiful, free places to explore. For me, there’s something very beautiful about creating memories like these.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
Treat others how you would like to be treated. This advice was given to me by my mother who is very inspirational to me and led me to pursue a career in the health and social care sector. She has worked as a respite support worker for local government at the same location for over 20 years.
I think this advice will get anyone who follows it far in life. We’re only here once and it doesn’t cost anything to share your kindness with the world.
