12 Companies for a better future
We were thrilled to support 12 social enterprises to attend the recent 2025 SECNA Social Enterprise Festival in Sydney.
The Social Enterprise Council of NSW & ACT (SECNA) is a member-led peak body that represents the interests of social entrepreneurs and social enterprises across New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory.
These 12 companies are all about people and planet first :
1. The Groundswell Collective
From Tiny Forests to seed libraries and nature-based workshops, this Lake Macquarie based group is building resilience and regeneration through hands-on sustainability projects. Their goal is to help build 50 community-led Tiny Forests by 2030.
Ambitious? Yes. Possible? Also, yes.
2. The Full Circle Collective
Championing the circular economy, this enterprise is helping communities take small-scale environmental action. Its aim is to disrupt traditional business models in manufacturing and construction industry through repair, reuse, and resource recovery.
We love supporting new and innovative ways to build!
3. Earth Worthy
Earth Worthy creates zero-plastic, plant-based, compostable bags from jute and is ethically sourced. The aim is to transition to a B2B model to scale impact and provide fair employment for the workers making them.

4. Chocolate on Purpose
100% Indigenous owned, this artisan chocolate company blends native botanicals with premium chocolate to share cultural wisdom. Their Ngunggilanha Cultural Sensory Garden & Chocolate Nexus project will demonstrate a blueprint for Indigenous businesses to achieve success while maintaining cultural integrity.

5. Allara Creative
Allara Creative employs women from refugee backgrounds who create quirky and relatable products. Their plan is to establish social enterprise driving school and they hope to have a permanent shop front to provide more employment and training opportunities to people from refugee backgrounds.

6. Boas Language Academy
A for-purpose language school supporting migrants into teaching roles, Boas is building empathy and multiculturalism through multilingual education.
They teach Arabic, French and Spanish, and probably better than Duolingo.
7. RoseyRavelston Books
This bookshop already donates 50% of profits to refugee charities and advocates for refugee rights. Their next step? Employing local refugees to deepen community impact.

8. Hotel Etico
Hotel Etico is Australia’s first social enterprise hotel. They train and employ young people with disability which sets a new standard for inclusion in tourism and hospitality.
Weekend trip to the Blue Mountains? Hotel Etico is the place to stay!
9. Women’s Shed Canberra Inc
Empowering women through tool competency and building skills, Women’s Shed Canberra is aiming to scale up to increase women’s participation in trades and the circular economy.
Women with tools? That’s the kind of power we’re here for.
10. U Shape Us
U Shape Us foster belonging with their creative and imaginative games. Their aim shares their games with schools, and aged care communities to encourage social imagination
across generations.

11. The Easy Read Toolbox
Making communication more accessible by employing disabled people, this enterprise is developing programs to support young disabled people into employment or self-employment.
Their resources are a must read for businesses and communications professionals.
12. brandkind community
brandkind is a marketing collective serving social enterprises and NFPs. Their mission is to deliver 1,000 projects in 10 years, making business for good the norm.
