Employability Skills Training (EST)

Finding the skills you need for a job you want just got easier, with Employability Skills Training (EST).

What is Employability Skills Training (EST)?

MTC FutureReady’s Employability Skills Training (EST) helps you build skills to be ready for work. Our EST program gives you the skills and confidence you need to search for a job, attend interviews, and to settle in quickly when you start your new job.

Why is Employability Skills Training important?

In this targeted, intensive program you will learn what employers are looking for, and what’s expected of you in the workplace. Plus, you will practice new skills, so you have the best chance of success.

Who is eligible for Employability Skills Training?

If you’re looking for a head start in your career pathway, then Employability Skills Training is for you.   

To be eligible for our EST program, you must be:

aged 15 years or over 

currently participating in Workforce Australia Services, Workforce Australia Online, Yarrabah Employment Services, or Broome Employment Services and either in receipt of:

  • income support payments that are subject to Mutual Obligation Requirements, or
  • Disability Support Pension with compulsory participation requirement

currently participating in Transition to Work (TtW) Services, Parent Pathways,or Inclusive Employment Australia.

    EST is offered to an open age group which includes people aged 15 years and older. We tailor your program to your level of experience, from beginner to advanced.

    How Employability Skills Training works at MTC

    At MTC, we’ve got flexible learning options – you can learn on a full-time or part-time basis. EST involves 75 hours of practical training so you can complete the course full-time in three weeks (25 hours per week) or part-time in five weeks (15 hours per week).

    Generalist Course:

    Focus, Refine, and Apply

    The EST Generalist Course is suitable for participants who are seeking more targeted employability skills training and to understand the industry sector they’d like to enter. We cater to your level of experience, from beginner to advanced. 

    In the Generalist course, you will participate in a range of Industry Awareness Experiences, which help you explore different industries and workplaces, and get hands-on experience with workplace skills.

    Specialist Course:

    The EST Specialist Course helps you gain important skills and knowledge that you will need when you start work, including IT skills, problem-solving, and communication. 

    You can focus on an industry of your choice and learn the job-specific skills that you will need for success.
