After more than 12 years out of work, Dave* joined MTC FutureReady’s Workforce Australia program to break old patterns and start taking control of his life.
From the moment Dave walked through our doors at MTC Fortitude Valley, we made sure he felt warmly welcomed. Together with his Health and Wellbeing Coach Michelle, Dave completed a comprehensive intake questionnaire. This helped us understand his strengths, identify any barriers, and tailor a support plan that was just right for him.
Dave also needed extensive help with work related and official documentation. We helped him complete all the required training paperwork, updating his PBAS, assisted with job applications, and helped him maintain a manual job search record sheet.
Through the Employment Fund, MTC provided financial support to help Darren access the tools and resources he needed to stay on track. Whether it was covering training-related costs or helping with job search essentials, we made sure he had what he needed to keep moving forward.
Once these administrative elements were handled, Dave and his Health and Wellbeing Coach Michelle discussed the fact he would benefit from additional training to be in the best position to secure a job. Together they identified a the Certificate II in Resources and Infrastructure Work and the White Card course through the Civil Contractors Federation QLD that aligned with Dave’s goals and interests. With guidance and encouragement from his MTC team, Dave completed the training, improving his chances of employment significantly! Soon after, Dave secured a role with Avada Traffic Pty Ltd.
Dave’s journey is a powerful reminder that with the right support, you can overcome a decade of instability. Our mission was not just to help him get a job, but to help him find his purpose, confidence, and a renewed sense of direction.
